In May 2014, Alan J. Fumuso obtained a defense verdict in a plastic surgery case in Nassau County. The case involved significant complications that occurred following a short-scar face lift, and chemical peel of the lower eyelids, leaving the plaintiff with facial and ear scarring, and other alleged injuries. It was also claimed that the defendant did not fully obtain the plaintiff’s informed consent for the procedures. The case was hotly contested in a trial lasting more than two weeks, with the jury receiving four departure questions in addition to the informed consent question. After deliberating slightly less than four hours over two days, the jury returned a unanimous verdict on behalf of the defendant on all five questions.
